The new tourism office, located at the front of the Longton Exchange Management Suite, will officially open on Monday 25th May, just in time for the May half-term holidays.
The project was initiated after Centre Manager Chris Ward discovered that Stoke-on-Trent no longer had a dedicated tourist information point available for visitors. Recognising the importance of tourism to both the local economy and the wider community, Longton Exchange began developing a welcoming and accessible space where visitors can discover everything Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire have to offer.
Developed with support from Visit Staffordshire and Visit England, the tourism office will provide information on local attractions, events, accommodation, shopping, dining, heritage sites and family activities across the city and county.
Chris Ward, Centre Manager at Longton Exchange, said:
"When I discovered that Stoke-on-Trent no longer had a tourism information point, I felt it was important that we did something about it. Tourism plays a huge role in supporting local businesses and encouraging people to explore our city.
"Stoke-on-Trent has a rich heritage and so many fantastic attractions, from Gladstone Pottery Museum and Duchess China to independent businesses, cultural venues and family attractions across all six towns.
"Longton itself attracts visitors from across the country, particularly those wanting to visit the home of The Great Pottery Throw Down, alongside the many historic and cultural attractions within the town. Creating a central point where visitors can access information while exploring the area felt like a natural step forward.
"Longton Exchange is about far more than shopping, it’s about supporting the wider community, promoting local pride and helping drive footfall into Longton
and Stoke-on-Trent as a whole. We are incredibly proud to now be home to the city’s only tourism office."
The opening forms part of Longton Exchange’s wider commitment to supporting the regeneration of Longton town centre and promoting Stoke-on-Trent as a destination for visitors and residents alike.
The tourism office will promote local events, independent businesses, visitor attractions, cultural experiences and family activities throughout the year.
The tourism office officially opens on Monday 25th May at Longton Exchange.
