A rare astronomical event is set to light up the skies over Staffordshire this month, and one local café is inviting the community to enjoy it together from one of Stoke on Trent's most picturesque spots.
Westport Lake View Café will stay open until 8.30pm on Wednesday 12 August, giving visitors the chance to watch the solar eclipse from beside the lake while enjoying drinks, cakes and refreshments.
The family friendly evening is open to everyone, whether you are planning to meet friends, bring the children along or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings as the eclipse unfolds.
Visitors will be able to buy solar eclipse glasses at the café, helping people watch the event safely.
Throughout the evening the café will be serving hot and cold drinks, fresh cakes, counter treats, beers and wines.

If skies remain clear, visitors can expect the following schedule:
- 6.14pm: Eclipse begins
- 7.10pm: Maximum eclipse
- 8.04pm: The Moon completely leaves the Sun's disc
