Domestic abuse rates have improved in Stoke-on-Trent, reducing by 12.6%.
Local data shows there were 26.7 cases per 1000 adults in the city in 2025, which is a decrease from 31.7 in 2023. This means that nearly 1,000 fewer people in the city have suffered from domestic abuse in that time.
The data shows that Stoke-on-Trent is outperforming England as a whole, with the national average being 27.9.
The city council is working with partners across the county to support victims and end domestic abuse.
This includes jointly commissioning New Era, who are a free, confidential specialist support services for those impacted by domestic abuse.
The city council also support people with experience of domestic abuse through Supportive Housing, which provides accommodation, support and care in an integrated way.
Councillor Sarah Jane Colclough, Vice Chair of the Stoke-on-Trent Domestic Abuse Partnership said:
“Domestic abuse is never acceptable and support is available both to those who are affected and those who want to take responsibility for their behaviour.
“These latest statistics are encouraging and show that the actions we are taking with partners to reduce domestic abuse are having an impact.
“However, this isn’t the end of the action – we still have a long way to go to ensure all perpetrators are held to account and survivors are supported. If you need support, you will be believed and you will be helped.”
