Residents and visitors reported seeing an increased police presence in the area, along with both road ambulances and the air ambulance. Parts of The Strand were cordoned off for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
We contacted Staffordshire Police for more information on the incident, and they have since confirmed that officers were called to The Strand at 11.45am, following reports of a group of people fighting in the street.
According to police, the group was then seen running towards Longton Market and in the direction of Fenton.
Officers attended alongside paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and established a cordon around the scene.
Two men were found suffering from multiple suspected stab wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
A 28-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent, while a 22-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.
Detectives are also trying to trace a third man who may have been involved in the incident. He is described as white, bald, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, middle-aged, and wearing black joggers. He was reportedly seen on King Street shortly after the incident occurred.
Officers are continuing their enquiries and are speaking to local businesses to review CCTV footage from the area.
Staffordshire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, to come forward.
